A Destination Memo/Tag is an additional address feature necessary for identifying a transaction recipient beyond a wallet address. Since exchanges have hundreds of thousands of users, it is not feasible for them to have individual wallet addresses for each user. Hence, when users send crypto to a single address, they add a destination Memo/Tag to indicate which deposit belongs to which user.
